סָגוֹס עָבֶה וְכֹפֶת עָבֶה אֵינָן מְבִיאִין אֶת הַטֻּמְאָה עַד שֶׁיִּהְיוּ גְבוֹהִים מִן הָאָרֶץ פּוֹתֵחַ טֶפַח. קְפוּלִים, זוֹ עַל גַּבֵּי זוֹ, אֵינָן מְבִיאוֹת אֶת הַטֻּמְאָה עַד שֶׁתְּהֵא הָעֶלְיוֹנָה גְבוֹהָה מִן הָאָרֶץ פּוֹתֵחַ טֶפַח. הָיָה אָדָם נָתוּן שָׁם, בֵּית שַׁמַּאי אוֹמְרִים, אֵינוֹ מֵבִיא אֶת הַטֻּמְאָה. וּבֵית הִלֵּל אוֹמְרִים, אָדָם חָלוּל הוּא, וְהַצַּד הָעֶלְיוֹן מֵבִיא אֶת הַטֻּמְאָה:

סגוס. בגד צמר עב מאוד:

וכופת. קורה עבה. אע״פ שגובה עוביין יותר מטפח, אינן מביאין את הטומאה. אם נתנן בארץ כנגד הסדק שבתקרת האכסדרה, אלא אם כן יש תחתיהן חלל טפח:

קפולין. כמו טלית מקופלת. בגדים הרבה מקופלים זו על זו:

עד שתהיה העליונה גבוהה מן הארץ טפח. ואע״פ שהבגדים נתונים תחתיה העליונה מביאה את הטומאה, הואיל וגבוהה מן הארץ טפח:

היה אדם נתון שם. בארץ כנגד הסדק:

חלול. חלל הגוף נחשב חלל אע״פ שבני מעיו לתוכו:
