אֵין נוֹטְעִין יְרָקוֹת בְּתוֹךְ סַדָּן שֶׁל שִׁקְמָה. אֵין מַרְכִּיבִין פֵּיגָם עַל גַּבֵּי קִדָּה לְבָנָה, מִפְּנֵי שֶׁהוּא יָרָק בְּאִילָן. אֵין נוֹטְעִין יִחוּר שֶׁל תְּאֵנָה לְתוֹךְ הַחֲצוּב, שֶׁיְּהֵא מְקֵרוֹ. אֵין תּוֹחֲבִין זְמוֹרָה שֶׁל גֶּפֶן לְתוֹךְ הָאֲבַטִּיחַ, שֶׁתְּהֵא זוֹרֶקֶת מֵימֶיהָ לְתוֹכוֹ, מִפְּנֵי שֶׁהוּא אִילָן בְּיָרָק. אֵין נוֹתְנִין זֶרַע דְּלַעַת לְתוֹךְ הַחַלָּמִית, שֶׁתְּהֵא מְשַׁמַּרְתּוֹ, מִפְּנֵי שֶׁהוּא יָרָק בְּיָרָק:

שקמה. אילן תאנה שגדל ביערים:
סדן של שקמה. לאחר שנחתך ונשארו שרשיו בארץ נקרא סדן, ואין נוטעין ירק לתוכו דהוי ירק באילן:
פיגם. עשב שקורין לו רוד״א בלע״ז:
קידה. מין אילן של בשמים תרגום קדה קציעה וכתיב (תהילים מ״ה:ט׳) מור ואהלות קציעות כל בגדותיך:
חצוב. מין ירק ששרשיו יורדים בעומק הארץ ביושר ואינם נוטים לכאן ולכאן, ובו תיחם יהושע את הארץ:
מקירו. לשון קור שתהא התאנה מקררת החצוב שהוא חם ביותר. פירוש אחר שתהיה עליו לצל לשון קורה:
מימיה לתוכה. שהאבטיח לח ומלא מים:
חלמית. בערבי כובוז״א ובלע״ז מלוו״א:

שקמה. פי' הר"ב דהכא הוא פירושו של הרמב"ם דריש מסכת דמאי וכן מפרש עוד לקמן פ"ו משנה ד. ונ"ל דאע"ג דלהרמב"ם היינו בנות שקמה היינו שקמה אלא דפירות שקמה קורא להו בנות להר"ב תרתי נינהו וכמ"ש בריש דמאי בס"ד:
חצוב. כתב הר"ב בו תיחם יהושע את הארץ. גמ' פרק אין צדין במסכת ביצה דף כה. וסיים הרמב"ם ועל כן נקרא חצוב ע"כ. ונראה שר"ל על שם שחוצב ומחלק הארץ ביושר לחלקים שוים. [*ועיין בפ"ק דע"ז מ"ה]:
אין תוחבין זמורה וכו' שהוא אילן בירק. כתב הר"ש מטעם הירושלמי דמיירי כשהעמיק שורש הגפן והאבטיח למטה משלשה טפחים ושם הכניס זה לתוך זה ובמקום שהענפים יוצאים חוץ מן הארץ רחוקים זה מזה כשיעור הרחקת זרע מגפן יחידי בריש פ"ו. דאי לאו הכי אפילו בלא תחיבה אסור להביא זרע תחת הגפן כדלקמן: [*שתהא משמרתו. החלמית מרטיב הזרע ושומרו עד שיהא הזרע נשרש בארץ מצאתי בפירוש שהזכרתי]:

They may not plant vegetables in a trunk of a sycamore tree. They may not graft rue on white cassia, since that is [grafting] a vegetable on a tree. They may not plant a young fig-shoot in sea squill so that it might provide shade for it. They may not insert a vine branch into a melon, in order that the latter might shoot its moisture to the former, since that is [grafting] a tree on a vegetable. They may not place gourd seed into anchusa for the purpose of preserving it (the gourd seed), since that is [grafting] a vegetable on another vegetable.
