מַעֲשֶׂה בְּכֹהֵן אֶחָד שֶׁהָיָה מִתְעַסֵּק, וְרָאָה הָרִצְפָּה שֶׁהִיא מְשֻׁנָּה מֵחֲבֵרוֹתֶיהָ. בָּא וְאָמַר לַחֲבֵרוֹ. לֹא הִסְפִּיק לִגְמֹר אֶת הַדָּבָר עַד שֶׁיָּצְתָה נִשְׁמָתוֹ, וְיָדְעוּ בְיִחוּד שֶׁשָּׁם הָאָרוֹן נִגְנַז:

שהיה מתעסק כו'. לשון הר"ב מתליע את העצים כו' [*כלומר בודק העצים המתולעים ומשליכם] ובעל מום כו' מדלא אמר עובד. רמב"ם. ועיין פ"ב דמדות:
וראה הרצפה שהיא משונה. כתב הר"ב והבין שנסתלקה משם והוחזרה וכפי' רש"י ביומא פרק ה' דף נ"ד ומוקים התם דבבית שני היה וכן הסברא ולא תנן בסוף תענית אלא ונחרשה העיר ועוד אפילו אם נאמר שהבית גם בכלל זה אפש' שלא היה אלא בשניה וכן בגמ' אההוא מתניתין תניא כשחרב [*נ"ל שצ"ל כשחרש] טורנוסרופס הרשע את ההיכל כו' וכן הרמב"ם בפ"ה [מה' תענית ה"ב] לא כתב אלא שחרש טורנוסרופס ההיכל ואת סביביו לקיים ציון שדה תחרש (ירמיהו כ״ו:י״ח) וכן במזמור קל"ז נאמר על אדום האומרים ערו ערו עד היסוד בה ועיין בגמרא תענית דף כ"ט:
